Cheers everyone at this brightest greenest day! A saying is that everyone's Irish at March 17, so I guess those who actually have been a resident over there are included in that enlarged Irish community. So taken to account that I have given one who have been sitting at Éamon de Valera lap a hug, and in some occasion in Dublin, Belfast and Derry been taken for a Irish/Catholic/resident, I think it might justify my participation. Hence, I brought on my authentic piece of Ireland and be sure I wore it with pride.
The celebration this evening were at Finnegan’s Irish Pub in the town, grand place where I hadn't been before due to a ridiculous high age limit(23!), but who had one of its liberal days today. After a couple of Guinness, it was a quiz with general Irish knowledge as subject, and i’m delighted to know that I (since the other person at the team didn’t) was one of quite few, three or something) who did know that Waterford is the Republic’s fifth largest city and famous for its crystal. Our group ended up in a 6th-7th place of the 16 teams participating, so taken to consideration that we were two people against quite larger groups we are rather satisfied. I would also salute the Bag pipe Band that arrived us afterwards. (I'll upload it tomorrow)
Hadn’t it been that bloody freezing and a way too small number Irish people the whole thing were utter recognisable to a Galway bar. But it isn’t, and not a day is passing by without me letting my mind wandering back to the emerald isle; last year I celebrated St Paddy’s in Aberdeen, this year here, next year...next year I’ll put my money on Ireland. That's craic. 'Cause it was something that was missing here, and basically, had it just been half the price for the Guinness, and something red headed eye candy named Aofie from county Down or Galway among the Irish: You hadn’t been reading this before tomorrow, or the day after that, or later.
Anyway, it's late, and if the Guinness shouldn't have taken its toll on me by tomorrow's breakfast lecture I think this is the point where I should consider to retreat into my green dreams. In the name of Saint Pádraig: Erinn go Braugh!
