Robert Gerard (Bobby) Sands MP 9.3.1954 - 5.5.1981

In memory of a man who payed the ultimate price for his visions, his dreams and canonized the single most dramatic event of the Troubles after Bloody Sunday. A man, which policy made the end justifying the means in the same way his executers justified their cruelty against an entire nation. He was perhaps a IRA commander, but, at his time of death, he was elected Member of Parliament for Fermanagh & South Tyrone, perhaps one of few ever elected to Westminster to really scarify everything for the cause of his land. In every case, despite the fact he wasn’t God’s best child on this Earth, he wasn’t more a terrorist than just another freedom fighter. A product of his time and place and origin. A man who made republicanism possible, gave boost to the national struggle for those suppressed, showed that life and equality and the longing for it is a case beyond the limits of man, or woman; that the cause and the greater good is something worth dying for. A Rebel life is temporary; a hero’s death is eternal. Those 100.000 following you to the grave knows.
